Vanilla

"Vanilla" describes an item with no paint finish applied whatsoever — it keeps the weapon's bare, unpainted default appearance. For most guns this just means an unremarkable grey or black skin with no market interest, but vanilla knives are a real exception: since knives can normally only be obtained already painted (via a case), an unpainted vanilla knife can only come from a very specific, uncommon source and is prized precisely because it's rare and instantly recognizable.

Vanilla items carry no pattern index or float-driven pattern variation to speak of in the way a Case Hardened or Doppler skin does — visually, every vanilla copy of the same knife looks identical, so their value comes entirely from scarcity rather than any per-copy pattern hunting.
