Every skin here belongs to The Glove Collection.
The Glove Case introduced gloves to the game, and its rare-special pool is where several of the most recognisable glove finishes originate. It is a discontinued case, so it no longer drops in play and the only supply is what already exists on the market. That is the defining fact about its price.
A case out of the active drop pool has a supply that only ever shrinks, as copies are opened and permanently removed. Demand does not shrink at the same rate. The result is the slow upward drift characteristic of every retired case, and it is why the case itself can be a meaningful cost rather than the rounding error it is for an active-drop case.
When the container itself is costly, the ratio between expected return and case price does more work than the raw expected value. The block above gives both. Note also that the key price is a fixed additional cost per opening, which weighs proportionally less on an expensive case than on a cheap one — a detail that flips the comparison between cases more often than people expect.
The Glove Case has been out of the drop pool long enough that its behaviour is a useful illustration rather than a prediction. Every copy opened is gone permanently, the remaining supply sits in inventories rather than arriving weekly from match rewards, and the price has moved accordingly over the years since retirement. Anyone weighing an opening against simply holding the sealed case is really making a judgement about which of those two supplies shrinks faster: the sealed cases still in circulation, or the unopened glove pool behind them. Neither question has a settled answer, which is why the sealed case and its contents trade as genuinely separate markets.
