Wear / Exterior
Last updated: 6 August 2026
Exterior is the human-readable label for a skin's condition, derived directly from its float value. CS2 uses five tiers, from cleanest to most worn: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred.
The float ranges for each tier are fixed game-wide (Factory New is roughly 0.00–0.07, for example), but not every skin can actually reach every tier — a skin's own min/max float range might stop short of Factory New, or never dip low enough to be considered Battle-Scarred at all. That's why some skins are only ever sold in three or four exteriors instead of the full five.
Exterior is usually the single biggest factor in a skin's price after rarity, since a cleaner-looking weapon is generally worth more — though a handful of finishes flip that expectation, since heavy wear can bring out more contrast in the pattern.
