The Complete Guide to AK-47 Skin Prices
What Moves an AK-47 Skin’s Price
Rarity sets the floor and wear does most of the rest. The same finish in Factory New routinely trades at several times its Battle-Scarred price, because a lower float shows more of the pattern and less of the scuffing laid over it. Above that sit two multipliers: StatTrak, pulled far less often from a case, and Souvenir, which exists only for AK-47 finishes that have appeared in a Major souvenir package. The AK-47 also carries the game’s only Contraband skin, and that one prices on a logic of its own.
Case Hardened, Fire Serpent and the Pattern Premium
On most AK-47 finishes the float is the whole story. On a handful, the pattern index matters more than float or wear. Case Hardened is the clearest example: blue coverage on the receiver is decided by the pattern seed, and the small number of seeds producing a near-fully-blue top have sold for many multiples of an ordinary blue-and-gold copy in the same condition. Fire Serpent and Wild Lotus price on scarcity instead, both being discontinued-case finishes whose supply only ever shrinks.
Why the AK-47 Holds Its Value
The AK-47 is the Terrorist side’s default buy in nearly every round of every competitive match, so more players spend more time looking at it than any other rifle in the game. That is not a cosmetic detail for pricing: demand for a skin tracks how often its owner actually sees it. Combined with a silhouette recognisable outside the game entirely, it gives AK-47 finishes a depth of buyers that thinner weapon categories never develop.
