What Moves an AWP Skin’s Price
The AWP sits at the top of the CS2 skin market by value, and its pricing is more top-heavy than any other weapon. Rarity and wear work as they do everywhere — Covert finishes in Factory New command the largest premiums — but the AWP’s ceiling is set by a small group of finishes whose supply is fixed and shrinking. Dragon Lore, Gungnir and Medusa define that ceiling; below them, the mid-market AWP finishes behave much like any other rifle.
Dragon Lore and the Souvenir Question
A Souvenir AWP is usually worth more than its non-Souvenir twin, which reverses the intuition that a stock skin is the cleaner item. Souvenir copies only ever dropped from packages tied to one specific Major, so their supply was capped the day that event ended, and copies carrying the stickers of a well-remembered player carry more still. The Souvenir Dragon Lore is the most extreme case in the game: the finish is scarce, the event supply is closed, and player stickers make individual copies effectively unique.
Why AWP Skins Trade Differently
One AWP decides more rounds than any other weapon in CS2 — a single shot removes a player regardless of armour, and teams build their economy around whether they can afford one. The player holding it is usually the one the round revolves around, and that visibility carries into the market: AWP skins are bought to be seen. The result is a category where the gap between an ordinary finish and a marquee one is far wider than on rifles or pistols.
