M4A4

The Complete Guide to M4A4 Skin Prices

What Moves an M4A4 Skin’s Price

M4A4 pricing follows the standard ladder — rarity first, wear second, StatTrak and Souvenir on top — but with a wider mid-market than the AK-47 has. Because the M4A4 has appeared in a long run of cases across the game’s history, more Classified and Covert finishes compete for the same buyers, which keeps individual prices flatter. The exception is Howl, which moved to Contraband when its artwork was pulled, froze its supply permanently, and now prices on scarcity alone.

The Howl, and What Contraband Means

Howl is the only M4A4 finish that stopped being produced. Its original artwork was removed after a copyright dispute, Valve reclassified it as Contraband, and no further copies have entered circulation since. Every Howl in CS2 today came out of a case opened before that change. That makes it the one M4A4 whose price has no relationship to case odds — it is bounded entirely by how many copies exist and how many owners will sell.

M4A4 or M4A1-S: What the Split Does to Prices

Counter-Terrorists choose between two M4s, and that choice splits the buyer pool in a way no other weapon has. The M4A4 carries more ammunition and no suppressor; the M4A1-S is quieter and more accurate but holds fewer rounds. Players tend to commit to one and buy skins for the one they actually use. A finish released for both rifles will not price identically across them, and which side leads shifts with balance patches and the professional meta.
