Introduction

49Skins is a young, Germany-based P2P CS2 marketplace operated by 49Skins GmbH out of Isernhagen, near Hannover. It launched under its current peer-to-peer model in 2025, keeps its infrastructure and data in Germany, and serves an overwhelmingly DACH and Benelux audience — third-party traffic data puts Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium at roughly 90% combined.

How the market works

Every trade is genuinely peer-to-peer: 49Skins reads your public Steam inventory to list items but never takes custody of a skin itself, and delivery runs as a direct Steam trade offer between the two traders once a sale completes. That keeps it closer to CS.MONEY's P2P mode or HaloSkins than to a bot-inventory site like Skinport or Tradeit.

Fees explained

49Skins charges both sides. Selling costs a flat 4% of the sale price, confirmed in the Terms of Service and matching the live fee configuration. Buying isn't free either, despite one page on the site saying so — the binding Terms set a €0.50 fixed charge plus 4% of the order value, added once per cart rather than per item. There's no fee to deposit or withdraw, since there's no separate wallet product: you simply pay the Service Fee at checkout and get paid out after a sale. Worth knowing the 4% seller rate is fairly new — the site's own older FAQ still quotes “typically 5-10%,” and a year-old third-party snapshot recorded 4.9%, so the true cost has come down over the last several months.

How to buy

Browse the market, add an item to your cart, and pay with a card, PayPal, crypto, Klarna, iDEAL or one of several other regional methods — the €0.50 + 4% Service Fee is added at checkout on the cart total. The skin arrives as a Steam trade offer straight after payment.

How to sell

Sign in with Steam so 49Skins can read your public CS2 inventory — no trade link or API key needed — then list an item at your own price or accept the site's suggested fair-market price. Once it sells, 4% comes off the sale price and delivery goes out as a Steam trade offer to the buyer.

Cashing out

This is where the marketing and the contract disagree. The site's sell-flow copy promises “instant payout via SEPA, PayPal or crypto,” and one on-page testimonial even claims payout in under 60 seconds — but the actual Terms of Service impose an 8-calendar-day security hold after the buyer confirms delivery, specifically to cover the payment processor's chargeback window, followed by another 2–3 business days for the bank transfer itself. That's realistically 10–11 days end to end, and bank transfer through Stripe Connect is the only payout rail the Terms actually describe — PayPal and crypto payout aren't contractually confirmed despite appearing in the marketing copy.

Reputation

49Skins' Trustpilot profile is genuinely thin — 3 reviews total and none in the past 12 months, despite being claimed and Google-verified. The homepage nonetheless displays eight separate customer quotes, only two of them labelled as coming from Trustpilot, which is more on-page social proof than the verified review count actually supports. No scam reports or notable incidents turned up in research, but independent coverage of the brand is itself sparse, consistent with how new it is.

Who it's for

A reasonable pick for a German or DACH-region trader who values a German legal entity, VAT invoices, and data that stays on German servers over the deepest possible liquidity. Less suited to anyone who wants their payout the same day they sell — despite what the marketing promises, the contractual hold puts real cash in your bank account closer to a week and a half after a sale, not instantly.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Genuinely peer-to-peer — 49Skins never takes custody of your skins, and delivery runs as a direct Steam trade
  • German-registered operator with a public Commercial Register entry, VAT invoicing, and EU/German-hosted data
  • Broad checkout options, including Klarna, iDEAL and several regional bank rails alongside cards and crypto
  • No separate deposit or withdrawal fee — the only charge is the Service Fee taken at checkout or on a sale
  • Seller fee has come down over the past year, from a reported 4.9% to a confirmed 4% today

Disadvantages

  • Payout is contractually 10–11 days after a sale — an 8-day security hold plus 2–3 business days for the bank transfer — despite marketing copy promising an “instant” payout
  • Buying isn’t free: a €0.50 plus 4% fee applies at checkout, though one page on the site says otherwise
  • Only bank transfer is a contractually confirmed payout rail — PayPal and crypto payout are advertised but not described in the Terms
  • Trustpilot record is thin, just 3 reviews and none in the last 12 months, despite the platform's own homepage displaying eight customer quotes
  • Marketing promotes Rust and Dota 2 support, but the site's own API documentation states CS2 is the only game with live inventory
  • Small and new — under three years old as a company, with the current P2P platform only live since 2025

Selling costs a flat 4% of the sale price. Buying costs €0.50 plus 4% of your order total, added once at checkout — despite one FAQ page on the site claiming buying has no fees, the binding Terms of Service state the charge plainly. There's no separate deposit or withdrawal fee beyond that.
